NEW YORK—Touting the perk as a way to add authenticity to a gourmet dinner, HelloFresh confirmed Thursday that most of the company’s meal kits included a packet of restaurant-style rat droppings. “Yes, you and your family can enjoy a bistro-level experience in the comfort of your own home with the addition of rodent feces just like they have at your favorite dining establishment,” said spokesperson Greta Gibbons, confirming that the pre-portioned number of droppings ensured that home chefs would have just the right amount for their meal and would not have to do any measuring. “While we’re very excited about this deal, we understand that different people have different dining preferences, and so we’re also offering meal kits with assorted ant parts, dead cockroaches, and—for those who want a little Southwestern flare—scorpion eggs.” Gibbons added that experts and inexperienced cooks alike should be able to follow the simple instructions to microwave the scat for 10 to 12 seconds until it’s warm and steaming.
