AKRON, OH—Concerned that its constant presence on the social media platform was harmful to its well-being, the Akron Beacon Journal was reportedly starting to worry Monday that spending so much time on Facebook wasn’t healthy for it. “I’m beginning to think we really should not be on this site as often as we are,” said editor Bruce Winges, adding that the newspaper was actually much happier before it joined the website and honestly was only on it because everyone else was. “Obsessively checking to see how many likes and shares your posts get can really take its toll on your self-esteem. It feels like we’re posting all the time and not getting anything out of it, but it’s just such a hard habit to break.” At press time, the Akron Beacon Journal had already logged back on after deactivating its Facebook account.
